Eligibility of High School Students Within 60 Days of Graduation

Certification candidates who are within 60 days of acquiring their high school diploma or equivalent educational diploma are now eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE). PTCB expanded our eligibility parameters to allow students nearing completion of high school to take the PTCE before graduation so they can get a head start on acquiring their PTCB credential. The eligibility expansion took effect on August 22, 2017.

PTCB requires a graduation date to be provided when submitting an application for certification. Candidates who indicate a future graduation date on their application will receive an email from PTCB explaining the documentation they are required to submit. They must reply by email with documentation attached within 90 days of applying.

PTCB requires proof of high school completion (or equivalent) to be provided before PTCB Certification will be granted. Examples of acceptable documentation include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Copy of High School Diploma
  • Copy of High School Transcript with graduation date
  • A letter from a school official on letterhead indicating school and graduation date
  • GED Diploma/Results
  • Foreign Diploma (Education Evaluation required, visit NACES for more information)

If you have any questions about PTCB’s eligibility requirements or the certification process, please submit a request.
