What is PTCB’s Refund Policy?

Refundable Fees

PTCB will refund your Application and/or Exam Fee in the original form of payment minus a $50 administrative fee when:

If your application is withdrawn or denied: You will be refunded:
            CPhT $79 of your original $129 application and exam fee
            CSPT

Initial Application: $99 of your original $199 ($50 nonrefundable application fee* and $149 exam fee)

Retake Exam: $99 of your $149 exam fee
              CPTEd

PTEC members
Initial Application: $188 of your original $238 ($50** nonrefundable application fee* and $238 exam fee)
Retake Exam: $69 of your $119 exam fee

Non-PTEC members
Initial Application:* $268 of your original $417 ($99 nonrefundable application fee* and $318 exam fee)
Retake Exam: $109 of your $159 exam fee

*The one-time fee is required per one-year Candidacy Eligibility Window.

**The $50 application fee is waived for PTEC members through April 15, 2025.

Refund Processing

Refunds are issued in the original form of payment. Once processed by PTCB, refunded fees by credit card are typically available within 3-5 business days.

If your card is lost or stolen, please contact your financial institution immediately to report it. Typically, your bank will block your old card and issue a new one. Your account will remain active, allowing you to continue using it for transactions, including to receive refunds.
