It's important for the PTCB Certified Compounded Sterile Preparation Technician® (CSPT®) to stay skilled through continuing education (CE). Review the information below about renewing your CSPT Certification.
Applying for recertification for the CSPT only:
When only applying for CSPT recertification, no CE activity information is collected – only your annual CSPT Competency Attestation Form and CSPT recertification application fee are due.
Applying for recertification for the CPhT/CSPT or CPhT-AdvTM/CSPT combined:
When applying for either CPhT/CSPT or CPhT-Adv/CSPT recertification together, the continuing education (CE) requirements must be met, the annual CSPT Competency Attestation Form uploaded, and the recertification application fee must be submitted.
The CPhT/ CSPT renewal requirements are:
Total CEs Required | 20 hours* |
Technician-specific (T-specific) | Requires at least 10 hours |
Pharmacist-specific (P-specific) | Allows up to 10 hours |

Identifying Sterile Compounding CE Activities:
To determine if a CE activity covers sterile compounding, examine the Universal Activity Number (UAN) assigned by ACPE-accredited CE providers. For sterile compounding, look for the '07' compounding topic designator.
The target audience designation will end in a 'T' for pharmacy technician-specific (T-specific) or 'P' for pharmacist-specific (P-specific) – both are acceptable.
Example ACPE UAN:
0197-0000-17-001-L07-T
