Yes, you may apply for and take the PTCE before completing a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program (REP) as long as you are within 60 days of completion and meet all other eligibility requirements.
Steps to Apply and Earn Your CPhT Certification
- Confirm Program Recognition: Ensure that the program you are completing is a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program.
- Submit Application: In your application, enter your expected program completion date (it must be within 60 days of submitting your application).
- Provide Documentation: Upon submitting your application, PTCB will email you requesting proof of completion. To provide your proof of completion, reply to the email notification or submit a help request with the document attached. Documentation must be submitted within 60 days of your application submission date.
Unable to complete an education/training program
A work experience pathway serves experienced pharmacy technicians who have not been in a position to complete a PTCB-Recognized Education/Training Program.
When applying for CPhT Certification via their online PTCB Accounts, CPhT Certification candidates will attest to having completed at least 500 hours of work experience, meeting the same knowledge requirements used to evaluate recognized programs.
