How do I take a PTCB exam online?

To schedule an online proctored exam:

  1. Apply through your PTCB Account using the application link under the exam’s “Manage My” tile.
  2. Once your application is approved, you will receive an email confirming your 90-day authorization period to schedule and take your exam.
  3. Run the system test to verify your computer allows for online proctored testing. As part of the system test, you'll also need to keep your mobile phone handy to take photos of you in the room you will take the exam, the room, and your ID. A link is available on the PTCB OnVUE page

  4. After completing and passing the system test, schedule your exam appointment using the link located under your scheduled exam’s “Manage My” tile on your PTCB Account homepage. Then click the exam link under "Pre-approved Exams."
  5. When scheduling, select the “At a home or office” option when prompted How do you want to take your exam?

To start an online proctored Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam (PTCE) or CSPT Exam:

  1. Beginning up to 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time, log into your PTCB Account, then click “My Scheduled Exam Appointment” located under your scheduled exam’s “Manage My” tile.
  2. Click your scheduled exam under “Open Online Exams.”
  3. Click “Begin Exam” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the check-in process.
  4. Once you have completed the check-in process, you can begin your online proctored exam.

To start an online proctored Assessment-Based Certificate (ABC) Exam:

  1. Beginning up to 30 minutes before your scheduled exam time, log into your PTCB Account, then click “Manage My Assessment-Based Certificates (ABCs)” in the banner at the top of your account homepage.
  2. Click “My Scheduled Exam Appointment.”
  3. Click your scheduled exam under “Open Online Exams.”
  4. Click “Begin Exam” and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the check-in process.
  5. Once you have completed the check-in process, you can begin your online proctored exam.
