PTCB offers testing accommodations for candidates with documented disabilities, in line with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). To request accommodations, submit a completed Testing Accommodation Form from a healthcare provider that outlines your needs. The form can be uploaded to your PTCB Account. Available accommodations include extra time, additional breaks, and more.

Online Proctored Exam Accommodations

Online testing is available for all credential exams except the Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam® (PTCE®). Some accommodations are available for online exams, while others require testing at a Pearson test center. Accommodations available online include:

  • 1.5x exam time
  • 2.0x exam time
  • Beverages*
  • Glucose testing supplies
  • Waiver of automation tools

*A beverage is allowed during OnVUE exams and does not require approved accommodations.

View the complete list of items that do not require pre-approval as part of the accommodations request process.

Changing from a Test Center Exam to an Online Proctored Exam

If you want to switch a test center appointment to an online proctored exam, you will need to cancel your exam appointment, then reschedule. Contact Pearson through the testing accommodations line at 800-466-0450 for more assistance.

Pre-PTCE Accommodations

Accommodations are only available for the PTCE, CPTEd, CSPT, and Assessment-Based Certificate Exams. For the Pre-PTCE, the practice exam taken online without a proctor, extra time isn't necessary because you can pause the exam and resume within the 90-day window or for 48 hours after you begin.

If you do not complete the Pre-PTCE within the 90-day window or 48 hours after starting the Pre-PTCE, it will expire and you will not be refunded.

Removing Testing Accommodations

If you selected the need for accommodations by mistake, you can remove the request from your application directly within your PTCB Account.
