What does this verification status mean?

The Verification Page can be used to verify the PTCB Credential status of a pharmacy technician. Below are the credential statuses and their definitions.

Status Definition
Active Currently active.
Advanced

Active CPhT who has earned the Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT-Adv).

Expired

Not currently active, but eligible for reinstatement. 

Common reasons:

  • Applied for recertification, but failed to meet recertification requirements.
  • Failed to apply for recertification by the certification expiration date, but is currently within one year of the certification expiration date, and thus eligible to apply for reinstatement.

Uncertified

Not active and must reapply. 

Common reasons:

  • Applied for reinstatement, but failed to meet reinstatement requirements.
  • Failed to apply for reinstatement within one year of the certification expiration, and thus ineligible to apply for reinstatement.

Surrendered

Not active. Credential has been surrendered in accordance with the PTCB Voluntary Surrender Policy.

Suspended

Not active. Credential is suspended. 

Common reasons:

  • Application fee payment failed or was incomplete.
  • Disciplinary action was taken against the technician for violating PTCB’s Code of Conduct, resulting in the suspension of the credential.

Revoked

Not active. Credential has been revoked in accordance with the PTCB Conduct Case Procedures.

Emeritus

Inactive, retired and/or no longer a practicing pharmacy technician.
