How do I recertify my CPhT Certification?

To renew your CPhT Certification, follow these steps:

  1. Complete 20 hours of Continuing Education (CE) that meet the requirements below. Visit the CE Directory for a list of ACPE-accredited CEs. 

The CPhT renewal requirements are: 

Total CEs Required 20 hours
Technician-specific (T-specific) Requires at least 15 hours
Pharmacist-specific (P-specific) Allows up to 5 hours
Pharmacy Law (03 Topic Designator) Requires 1*
Patient Safety (05 Topic Designator) Requires 1


*Two (2) pharmacy law CE hours are required when applying for reinstatement

  1. Verify you have completed your CE activities within your 2-year recertification cycle
  2. Apply for recertification through your PTCB Account. You can renew 60 days before your certification expiration date.


  1. Pay the Recertification Fee.
